Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru 2023

The wine
A powerful bouquet of pure red and black cherry layered with vanilla and earthy notes. Expressive and elegant on the palate, with fine-grained tannins.
Echézeaux is a grand cru of 38 hectares in Flagey-Echézeaux, large enough that it is really several sites under one name, so the grower matters more than the appellation. Mongeard-Mugneret are among its largest owners. A 48-hour cold maceration precedes fermentation, drawing colour and tannin gently before the yeasts start work.
