The wine
Grenache Blanc is the white mutation of Grenache, widely planted in the southern Rhône and Spain but still rare in South Africa.
Marelise Niemann spent years looking for the right plot before finding one in 2022, which tells you how scarce good material is. The variety gives a broad, textural white with moderate acidity, suiting a warm climate better than most. Momento is Marelise Niemann label, working rented parcels of old dry-farmed bush vines across the Western Cape rather than farming an estate of her own.
