Molinico Loco Monastrell 2025

The wine
A beautiful deep ruby with violet hues on the rim, showing elegant ripe red fruit.
Jumilla is high, dry and hot in the south-east of Spain, and Monastrell, which is Mourvedre in France, is the grape that handles it. The sandy soils spared many vineyards from phylloxera, so ungrafted old bush vines survive in quantity. Molinico Loco takes its name from a windmill near the vineyards which, unlike every other, turned only when the wind dropped: the mad little mill.
The producer
Molinico Loco
View all Molinico Loco winesMolinico Loco is a characterful Spanish producer from the sun-baked hills of Murcia in the south-east, celebrating the region's signature grape, Monastrell. It makes generous, great-value wines full of Mediterranean warmth.
The continental climate and old Monastrell vines of Murcia give deeply fruited, naturally ripe wines. A fresh, unoaked, fruit-forward approach keeps them supple, juicy and immediately appealing.
The range offers a soft, generous Monastrell red bursting with ripe blackberry and warm spice, alongside a bright, dry Monastrell Rosado, crisp and thoroughly refreshing. Both deliver remarkable character for the price.
Juicy, sunny and irresistibly easy, the wines of Molinico Loco are everyday pleasure at its best. They bring a little Spanish sunshine to any occasion.
