Marbury Pinot Noir 2024

The wine
Red cherry and wild strawberry complemented by lifted violet, tobacco and wild herbs.
Pinot Noir in California depends entirely on cool sites, largely in the coastal fog belts where the Pacific keeps the afternoons short and the ripening slow. Picked warm it turns jammy and loses the perfume that makes the variety worth growing, so restraint in the vineyard matters more than anything done in the cellar. Marbury draws Californian fruit from cool coastal sites, made in a restrained style with the fruit allowed to hang late.

Marbury
View all Marbury winesMarbury is an exciting name in English wine, based in the Crouch Valley of Essex, a warm, dry pocket fast emerging as the country's finest region for still wines. It crafts elegant, food-friendly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that rival cool-climate benchmarks abroad.
The Crouch Valley enjoys one of England's warmest, driest climates, with clay-rich soils that ripen Burgundian varieties beautifully. Careful vineyard work and thoughtful winemaking preserve freshness while allowing genuine depth and texture to develop.
The range is focused on two classic grapes: a bright, mineral still Chardonnay and a fragrant, silky Pinot Noir. Both show the purity and precision that are making English still wine so compelling.
Fresh, refined and quietly confident, Marbury's wines showcase the exciting potential of English still wine. They are a proud expression of a new frontier.
