Maison Les Alexandrins Le Cabanon Syrah 2025

The wine
Deep ruby, with redcurrant, blackberry and black pepper on the nose. The palate has supple tannins and a juicy core of fruit, lifted by a floral note that comes from the five per cent of Viognier in the blend.
Maison Les Alexandrins was founded in 2015 by Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the family firm at Tain, with the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel, winemaker Guillaume Sorrel and viticulturalist Alexandre Caso. It is a micro-négociant, buying from a selection of the best growers in each Northern Rhône appellation, and is now run by Nicolas, Alexandre and winemaker Benoît Busseuil. Blending across sites gives consistency as well as complexity: granite brings structure and minerality, while some plots carry polished galets that hold the day’s heat and give it back to the vine at night. Destemmed, cold-macerated before a fortnight’s fermentation with pump-overs and punch-downs, then aged in steel to keep the primary fruit intact.

Maison Les Alexandrins
View all Maison Les Alexandrins winesMaison Les Alexandrins is a northern-Rhône house born of a partnership between respected figures of the region, blending estate vineyards with carefully sourced fruit. Based near Tain, it has quickly become known for authentic, well-priced expressions of the Rhône's great appellations.
The focus is Syrah on the steep granite slopes of the northern Rhône, with white Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier alongside. Attentive farming and traditional winemaking capture the perfume, freshness and mineral drive that define the region.
The range runs across the classic appellations, from everyday Côtes-du-Rhône and a fragrant Le Cabanon Viognier to Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, an aromatic Condrieu and a perfumed, elegant Côte-Rôtie. Each shows genuine northern-Rhône character.
Pure, peppery and beautifully balanced, the wines of Les Alexandrins offer a superb introduction to the northern Rhône and its noble Syrah, with quality at every level.
