The wine

Cerretta is one of Serralunga's great crus, giving a Barolo of power and mineral drive from its limestone soils.

Ruby red in the glass. Tobacco, ripe citrus, dark cherry, blackberry and dried rose, with balsamic and mint notes typical of Serralunga limestone. The palate is mineral, with orange peel, Tasmanian pepper and blackberry framed by structured yet elegant tannins.

Superb with roast beef, game and mature cheeses. Decant well ahead and serve at cool room temperature.

Luigi Baudana is a tiny Serralunga d'Alba estate of just over four hectares, its cellar in the village of Baudana and its vineyards in the celebrated crus of Baudana and Cerretta. Since 2009 it has been run by the Vaira family of G.D. Vajra.

Without heirs to continue, Luigi and Fiorina Baudana sought a buyer who shared their values. Impressed by the Vaira family's philosophy, Luigi approached Aldo Vaira, and the two families have worked the estate together ever since, farming with great care.

The range is led by two great Serralunga Barolos, the fragrant Baudana and the powerful, mineral Cerretta, alongside a classic village Barolo and the refreshing Dragon white blend.
