Livio Felluga Sauvignon 2025

The wine
Elegant and intense on the nose, opening on lily, orange blossom, bergamot and grapefruit before exotic notes of pineapple and passion fruit come through. Spicy and fragrant to close, with sage, nettle and boxwood. The palate is fresh and tangy, with real complexity and body behind it.
The fruit comes from the heart of the Colli Orientali near Rosazzo, on the marl and sandstone flysch the locals call ponca, Eocene in origin and the making of Friulian white wine. Livio Felluga emigrated from Istria and set up at Brazzano in the 1950s, buying vineyards when the fashion ran the other way; the landmark Terre Alte followed in 1981. Andrea Felluga spent five years testing screwcap before adopting it, on the grounds that it holds freshness and perfume better than cork, and this wine is bottled under it. Hand harvested into small crates, briefly macerated, gently pressed, fermented cool in stainless steel and left on its lees for several months to build texture.
The producer
Livio Felluga
View all Livio Felluga winesLivio Felluga is the most celebrated estate of Friuli, in Italy's north east. Livio himself emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, convinced of the potential of the Colli Orientali long before others.
The estate farms the region's finest hillside vineyards, and its landmark Terre Alte, first made in 1981, remains one of Italy's greatest white wines. Under winemaker Andrea Felluga, tradition is married with a forward looking eye for detail.
The range is broad and distinguished, from benchmark Friulano, Pinot Grigio and the Sharis blend to the flagship Terre Alte, the refined Illivio and single vineyard wines such as Sigar and Curubella.
Layered, textural and utterly distinctive, Livio Felluga's wines are the benchmark for Friuli. They combine richness with freshness and a strong sense of place. This is Italian white wine at the very highest level.
