Domaine Lignier-Michelot Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée Bertin 2024
£66.45
The wine
Cuvée Bertin is assembled from a single hectare across three lieux-dits in Gevrey-Chambertin, the largest commune on the Côte de Nuits and the source of its most structured, muscular Pinot Noir.
Blending across several small parcels is how a grower with fragmented holdings makes a coherent wine, and it is the norm rather than the exception in Burgundy. Lignier-Michelot are based in Morey-Saint-Denis, where Virgile Lignier works small parcels across the village and its neighbours.

View all Domaine Lignier-Michelot winesIn the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Lignier-Michelot crafts Pinot Noir of purity and perfume. Now led by Virgile Lignier, the family estate blends respect for tradition with a modern eye for detail. It has become one of the village most exciting addresses.
Virgile farms his patchwork of parcels with great care, harvesting by hand and working with restraint in the cellar. A share of whole-bunch fermentation and judicious oak lend both lift and structure. The wines are pure, silky, and expressive.
The range climbs from village wines to premiers and grands crus, tracing the great climats of Morey and its neighbours. Each bottling captures the fine differences between these hallowed sites with quiet precision.
To pour a Lignier-Michelot wine is to taste the Côte de Nuits at its most seductive. Fragrant, refined, and deeply satisfying, these are red Burgundies to cherish.
