The wine
Cahors is Malbec's original home, worked here long before the variety ever reached Argentina. Prieure de Cenac comes from the limestone plateau of Les Causses, where Herve Joyaux Fabre took over the Vignobles Saint Didier Parnac in 2017 after decades making Malbec in Mendoza. He works with minimal intervention, on the view that wine should express fruit and vineyard rather than technique, and was named IWC Red Winemaker of the Year in 2018.

Vignobles St Didier Parnac
View all Vignobles St Didier Parnac winesIn 1992 Herve Joyaux Fabre, a Bordeaux wine merchant, tasted a Malbec outside Mendoza and was won over entirely. He bought the estate with a childhood friend and built a considerable reputation there.
In 2015 he and his wife Diane visited Cahors, Malbec's original home, and were struck by the diversity of its terroirs and by how far the variety had come. In 2017, with friends and associates, they took ownership of Vignobles Saint Didier Parnac on the limestone plateau of Les Causses.
Herve works with minimal intervention, on the view that wine should express fruit and vineyard rather than technique. The estate is HVE certified, and he was named IWC Red Winemaker of the Year in 2018.
