The wine

An elegant and refreshing Picpoul de Pinet, with aromatic grapefruit and citrus notes underpinned by characteristic minerality through to a zesty, mouthwatering finish. Picpoul de Pinet is grown on the shore of the Etang de Thau, and the lagoon keeps the wine taut where the Mediterranean heat would otherwise flatten it. The traditional match is a plate of oysters farmed in that same water.

Les Costieres de Pomerols is a cooperative in the heart of Picpoul de Pinet, a short distance from the Etang de Thau. The original Cave de Pomerols was founded in 1932 and has grown and modernised steadily since, taking its present name after a series of mergers with neighbouring caves in the early 2000s.

It now works with over three hundred growers, which gives it access to a spread of sites across the appellation and, in a good year, a consistency that smaller estates struggle to match.
