Le Clos Jordanne Le Grand Clos Niagara Pinot Noir 2021
£36.75
The wine
Pure notes of raspberry, ripe cherry, plum and dried herbs, layered with rose petal and redcurrant. The palate is firm but ripe, with chalky tannins and a long, layered finish.
Le Grand Clos is the estate's finest single parcel of Pinot Noir, on the western side of the 10.45-hectare Le Clos Jordanne vineyard on Niagara's Twenty Mile Bench, chosen for its limestone-rich clay and cool climate. Thomas Bachelder ferments with indigenous yeast and ages the wine for 22 months in French oak, 20 to 25% new, with a further six months in bottle before release. 2021 was a classic Niagara vintage of plush fruit and trademark acidity.

Le Clos Jordanne
View all Le Clos Jordanne winesLe Clos Jordanne is one of Canada's leading wineries, set in the Twenty Mile Bench of the Niagara Peninsula. Founded in 2000 as a Franco Canadian collaboration between the Boisset family and Vincor, it helped lead the quality revolution in Niagara still wine.
With acclaimed winemaker Thomas Bachelder back at the helm, the focus is on minimal intervention, single vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The limestone rich benches above Lake Ontario give wines of purity, freshness and real Burgundian poise.
At the summit sits Le Grand Clos, the estate's flagship Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, drawn from its finest parcels. These are wines of finesse and complexity, built to reward time in the cellar.
Pure, refined and beautifully balanced, Le Clos Jordanne's wines are among the finest in North America. They combine ripe fruit with cool climate tension and a real sense of place. This is Canadian wine at its most compelling.
