The wine
Dão whites are led by Encruzado, a near-extinct variety replanted from the 1980s and now one of very few Portuguese whites with the structure to take oak and age.
The Dão is a granite plateau ringed by mountains that shelter it from both Atlantic rain and continental heat, which is why it gives Portugal most elegant and structured wines. Grão Vasco draw on a network of trusted Dão growers, and the name honours the sixteenth-century painter of Viseu.

The Dão's granite soils and cool, mountain-sheltered climate give wines of elegance and freshness. Touriga Nacional leads the reds, with Encruzado and other natives in the whites. The region is prized for balance and finesse.
The range centres on a fresh, aromatic Dão Branco and a smooth, fragrant Dão Tinto, each a blend of local varieties. Both are easy to enjoy and food-friendly. They show the classic Dão style at a friendly price.
Grão Vasco's wines are elegant, balanced and dependable. They offer an authentic taste of the Dão. A reliable Portuguese classic.
