The wine
Crianza is the first of the Rioja ageing tiers, requiring two years before release with at least twelve months in oak.
Rioja is defined by its ageing tiers rather than by vineyard: Crianza needs two years with at least one in oak, Reserva three with one in oak, Gran Reserva five with two. That system means the producer, not the buyer, does the cellaring, which is much of why Rioja has always been such reliable value. Gran Dominio is a Rioja bottling in the traditional idiom, released only when the ageing requirements are met.

Gran Dominio
View all Gran Dominio winesGran Dominio is a classic Rioja label offering traditional, great-value wines from Rioja Alta. Built on pure Tempranillo and patient oak ageing, its reds are smooth, warm and endlessly drinkable. This is honest Rioja at a friendly price.
The grapes come from Rioja Alta, the cooler, higher western part of the region prized for balance and finesse. Tempranillo thrives here, giving ripe fruit with fresh acidity. The wines are aged in the classic Rioja style.
The range centres on a supple Crianza and a deeper, more structured Reserva, each aged in oak and rested in bottle before release. Both show the vanilla-and-spice character that makes Rioja so loved. They are ready to enjoy on release.
Gran Dominio's wines are smooth, generous and dependable. They offer the warmth of classic Rioja without the fuss. A reliable choice for the everyday table.
