The wine
Fossacolle's Rosso di Montalcino is a pure, artisanal Sangiovese from the warm southern hamlet of Sant'Angelo in Colle. Made on a tiny scale, it offers Brunello character for earlier drinking.
Red cherry, plum and violet meet a savoury, earthy edge. The palate is bright and medium to full-bodied, with ripe fruit, fine tannins and a long, traditional finish.
A classic with roast meats, pasta and pecorino. Serve at cool room temperature.

Fossacolle
View all Fossacolle winesFossacolle is a small, family-run estate in Montalcino, based in the warm southern hamlet of Sant'Angelo in Colle. Sergio Marchetti and family tend just a few hectares by hand, making wine in an artisanal, traditional way. Their Brunello has become a cult favourite among Tuscan wine lovers.
The vineyards lie on the classic galestro and clay soils of southern Montalcino, where warmth and long ripening give powerful, generous fruit. Everything is done on a tiny scale, with minimal intervention. This is Brunello made the old way, with real soul.
The range is simple and pure, a fresh Rosso di Montalcino for earlier drinking and a profound Brunello Riserva made only in the finest years. Both are pure Sangiovese, aged patiently in large oak. Each reflects the character of Sant'Angelo in Colle.
Fossacolle's wines are rich, traditional and deeply expressive of their place. They reward patience and reward the table. This is Montalcino in its most authentic form.
