The wine

Salia is Finca Sandoval's supple, aromatic Manchuela red, Syrah with Bobal and a little Touriga Nacional. Fresh and perfumed, it offers estate character at a friendly price.

Blackberry, red plum and violet meet pepper, garrigue and spice. The palate is smooth and medium to full-bodied, with juicy dark fruit, fine tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Made for grilled meats, stews and hard cheese. Serve at cool room temperature.

Finca Sandoval is a benchmark estate in Manchuela, a rising appellation in the high country of Castilla-La Mancha. Founded by the renowned wine writer Víctor de la Serna, it pioneered fine Syrah in this corner of Spain. The wines have become cult favourites for their depth and personality.

The vineyards lie at altitude on limestone soils, where cool nights preserve freshness in the ripe fruit. Syrah leads the reds, alongside the native Bobal and a little Grenache and Touriga Nacional. Farming is meticulous and yields are kept low.

The range spans the fresh Salia and Fundamentalista blends, the flagship Syrah-led Finca Sandoval, the old-vine La Rosa Bobal and the distinctive Aurora white. Each is made with precision and ambition. Together they show the potential of high-altitude Manchuela.
