The wine
La Rosa is Finca Sandoval's tribute to Bobal, the native Manchuela grape, from a single old-vine parcel. Low yields and careful oak give a wine of real depth.
Blackberry, damson and blueberry meet violet, liquorice and spice. The palate is full and velvety, with concentrated dark fruit, ripe tannins and a long, fresh, savoury finish.
Superb with grilled and roast red meats and cheese. Serve at cool room temperature, decanted.

The vineyards lie at altitude on limestone soils, where cool nights preserve freshness in the ripe fruit. Syrah leads the reds, alongside the native Bobal and a little Grenache and Touriga Nacional. Farming is meticulous and yields are kept low.
