The wine

Beautiful complexity, with garrigue herbs and ripe red cherry and blackberry. The palate is opulent.

Vacqueyras sits next to Gigondas beneath the Dentelles de Montmirail and was promoted to cru status in 1990. Garrigue is the wild scrub of the southern Rhône, thyme, rosemary and juniper, and the herbal note it lends the wines is one of the more literal expressions of place in France. The Perrin family have farmed Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for five generations and are among the largest organic growers in France, working their own estates and alongside growers across the southern Rhône.

The producer

Famille Perrin is one of the most respected names in the Rhône Valley, a family that has made wine for five generations. Best known as the owners of the legendary Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Perrins also craft a superb range across the southern Rhône. Their name is a guarantee of quality and authenticity.

The family works with organic and biodynamic methods wherever possible, farming and sourcing grapes from the finest terroirs of the region. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre are the mainstays, grown on the sun-baked, stony soils that define the southern Rhône. Deep local knowledge runs through everything they make.

The range climbs from everyday Ventoux and Luberon wines through classic Côtes-du-Rhône to the great crus of Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Vinsobres and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Each is made with the same care, whatever its price. Together they offer a complete tour of the southern Rhône.

Generous, sun-filled and beautifully balanced, the Perrin wines capture the warmth of the Midi. They over-deliver at every level and age gracefully at the top. This is the southern Rhône in expert hands.
