Fairview Chenin Blanc 2025
£12.75
The wine
Pale straw yellow. Vibrant on the nose, with pineapple, ripe stone fruit and guava over honeysuckle.
From two vineyards, one of them bush vines. Chenin Blanc is South Africa most planted white grape and was long used for brandy and bulk wine, with old bush vines grubbed up as recently as the 1990s. Fairview is Charles Back estate at Paarl, founded by his grandfather in 1937 and one of the most influential names in modern South African wine.

Fairview
View all Fairview winesFairview is one of South Africa's best-loved estates, set on the slopes of Paarl Mountain in the Cape winelands. Under Charles Back, it has become famous for both its wines and its award-winning cheeses, with a herd of goats that has become an emblem of the farm. The range is as characterful as the man behind it.
The estate draws on vineyards across the Coastal Region, from Paarl and Darling to the Swartland, matching each variety to the site that suits it best. This spread lets Fairview work with everything from cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc to sun-loving Rhône reds. Quality and individuality run through every bottle.
Fairview champions the grapes that define the Cape, above all Chenin Blanc, Viognier and the country's own Pinotage. It also makes Méthode Cap Classique sparkling and richly sweet dessert wines. Each is made with skill, personality and a keen sense of place.
Approachable yet serious, Fairview wines deliver flavour and character in equal measure. They are dependable, distinctive and always good value. This is one of South Africa's true benchmark estates.
