Excelsior Robertson Shiraz 2023
£10.25
The wine
From the Robertson valley in South Africa's Breede River region, Excelsior Shiraz is grown on limestone-rich soils that lend elegance to warm-climate fruit. A splash of Petit Verdot adds depth and colour.
Aromas of blackberry, plum and black pepper are laced with a hint of smoke and spice. The palate is full and smooth, with ripe dark fruit, gentle oak and a warm, peppery finish.
A natural match for grilled beef, game and hard cheese. Serve at cool room temperature.

View all Excelsior winesExcelsior Estate lies in the Robertson valley of South Africa's Breede River region, a stretch of country long famous for its lime-rich soils. Family-owned for generations, the estate has grown into one of the Cape's most successful exporters. Its wines are known for pairing ripe Cape fruit with genuine elegance.
Robertson is sometimes called the valley of wine and roses, its limestone earth and cool nights giving structure and freshness that belie the warm days. These conditions are especially kind to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. The estate farms with sustainability firmly in mind.
Excelsior built its reputation on beautifully made, affordable wines, and a long association with horse breeding lends the label its equestrian charm. From smooth Merlot to zesty Sauvignon Blanc, the range is polished and consistent. Each wine offers more than its price would suggest.
