Domenico Clerico Visadi Langhe Dolcetto 2025

The wine
A beautiful violet colour, as Dolcetto should be. The nose is floral, high-toned violet and rose petal wrapped around a core of raspberry jam. The palate is fresh and crisp, its red fruit vibrant, its tannins well balanced, and the whole thing savoury and exuberant.
Visadé draws on three vineyards in Monforte d’Alba, Bricco San Pietro, Ginestra and Mosconi, each with its own aspect and character, on the fine, silty Marne di Sant’Agata fossil marl with clay sediments. Domenico Clerico was among the small group who drove the renaissance of Barolo and the Langhe from the late 1970s, taking over the family farm in 1976 and buying into Bussia in 1977, Ginestra in 1981, Pajana in 1990 and Mosconi in 1995. The estate runs to 21 hectares and, since his death in 2017, is owned by his wife Giuliana with their niece Cecilia. Hand picked and sorted, macerated gently to favour aroma and drinkability, then nine months in stainless steel. 2025 gave very low yields after hail, but excellent ripeness.

Domenico Clerico
View all Domenico Clerico winesIn Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of Barolo, Domenico Clerico was one of the legendary modernists who transformed the region. The estate he built crafts Nebbiolo of both power and polish, from some of the Langhe greatest crus. His legacy is one of ambition and quality.
The domaine farms with meticulous care and vinifies with a blend of tradition and precision. Careful oak ageing and patient handling give Barolo of real concentration, perfume, and refinement. The style is deep, structured, and built to age for decades.
The range spans approachable Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera through to a suite of single-cru Barolos, each tracing the character of its vineyard. Together they map Monforte and Serralunga with authority.
To pour a Clerico wine is to taste Barolo at its most compelling. Powerful, perfumed, and profoundly ageworthy, these are Nebbiolos for the serious cellar.
