The wine
A silky Cabernet Franc showing rich raspberry, blackberry and hints of graphite, through a supple, generous palate with a refreshing dryness on the finish. Old vines from Varrains, and one of the best-value reds in the Loire.

View all Domaine Lavigne winesDomaine Lavigne is a family winery now in its third generation. Since 2009 it has been run by Pascale Lavigne and her husband Antoine Veron, daughter and son-in-law of Gilbert Lavigne. Based at Varrains in Saumur-Champigny, they farm 42 hectares. Cabernet Franc is the grape, and Saumur-Champigny is arguably its finest address anywhere: fragrant, gently peppery reds that reward a light chill.
