The wine
White blossom complemented by bright citrus, peach fruit and a hint of gunflint.
Les Clos is the largest of the seven grand crus and widely held to be the finest, mid-slope on the deepest Kimmeridgian marl. Chablis sits well north of the rest of Burgundy on Kimmeridgian limestone, a 150-million-year-old seabed packed with fossil oyster shells, which is the source of the flinty, saline character that separates it from every other Chardonnay.

Domaine Laroche
View all Domaine Laroche winesIn the heart of Chablis, Domaine Laroche ranks among the appellation most storied names. Its home, the medieval Obédiencerie, has sheltered winemaking since the ninth century, when monks first pressed grapes here. Few estates carry such deep history.
Laroche farms an enviable spread of vineyards, from village Chablis to the great grand crus of Les Clos and Les Blanchots. The approach is thoughtful and increasingly sustainable, with a light touch in the cellar. The aim is transparent, mineral Chardonnay.
These are wines that define the Chablis style: cool, precise, and driven by the region famous Kimmeridgian limestone. From crisp everyday bottles to profound grand crus, each speaks of chalk and sea.
To pour a Laroche wine is to taste Chablis at its most authentic. Steely, saline, and beautifully ageworthy, they are benchmarks of this singular corner of Burgundy.
