Domaine Lafage Narassa 2023

The wine
The nose is dominated by lots of pure blackberry, crushed herbs, earth and peppery characteristics. The mouth is full bodied, very rich with soft and fine tannins. The finish is fresh with a surprising elegance. Narassa comes from old Grenache on schist, one of the estate's more serious bottlings.

Domaine Lafage
View all Domaine Lafage winesDomaine Lafage lies between Perpignan and the Spanish border in the Cotes Catalanes, run by Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage since 2001. Before settling back in the Roussillon they spent years harvesting and making wine in South America, California, South Africa and Germany, and it shows in the range.
Winemaking here goes back to 1798. The landscape is dry, windy and rugged, and for over a decade the Roussillon has been meeting the full force of climate change head on. Lafage have responded by rebuilding how they farm: regenerative agriculture, close water monitoring, and picking earlier to hold onto natural freshness. That freshness is the signature. These are wines from a hot place that do not taste heavy.
