Domaine Joël Delaunay Touraine Gamay 2025
£11.75
The wine
Ruby red. A supple Gamay dominated by ripe cherries, plums and floral notes.
Gamay in Touraine is a long way from Beaujolais in both distance and style, made light and fresh for drinking young and often served cool. It is a reminder that the variety travelled well beyond its famous home: the Loire grows a good deal of it, on flint and clay rather than granite, which gives a softer and more overtly fruity wine. Domaine Joël Delaunay work at Saint-Georges-sur-Cher in Touraine, farming sustainably, with 90% of production white.
