Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot Mâcon-Lugny Les Genièvres 2022
£31.25
The wine
Pale lemon. Lime and tropical fruits married with a well-integrated toastiness.
Les Genièvres is a named lieu-dit at Lugny. The Mâconnais is the southern end of Burgundy, on limestone, and it is where the region Chardonnay remains affordable enough to drink rather than save. Named villages and single lieux-dits are increasingly bottled separately as growers take the area more seriously. Jean-Marc Boillot is a Puligny grower whose daughter Lydie and her husband François began making Mâconnais wines from the family vines in 2012.

Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot
View all Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot winesJean-Marc Boillot is one of the great names of the Côte de Beaune, heir to a lineage that includes some of Burgundy most respected growers. From his base in Pommard, he crafts a celebrated range of whites and reds that span the region with confidence.
Boillot learned his craft in part alongside the legendary Olivier Leflaive, and it shows. His whites are precise and mineral, his reds structured and pure. He farms with care and vinifies with a sure hand, seeking clarity above all in every cuvée.
The range is wonderfully broad. From bright Mâconnais Chardonnay to grand Volnay and Beaune premiers crus, each wine carries the Boillot signature of balance and definition. Even the humbler bottlings punch above their station.
To pour a Jean-Marc Boillot wine is to taste Burgundy from a master hand. Polished, expressive, and built for the table, they are benchmarks of their appellations.
