Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2025

The wine
An elegant wine of great complexity, with citrus aromas enveloped in layers of minerality and herbal nuances. On the palate, this blend is full-flavoured with nutty, toasty tones, a creamy texture and a rich, long finish. White Châteauneuf accounts for a small fraction of the appellation and is drunk almost entirely in France. Florent Lancon works with tulip-shaped concrete vats originally designed for Cheval Blanc.

Domaine de la Solitude
View all Domaine de la Solitude winesWine has been made on this estate for several hundred years, back to 1264 when the family arrived from Italy to serve the pope at Avignon. The three hats on the label represent two bishops and a pope among the forefathers of the Lancon family.
The 38-hectare domaine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is now run by Florent Lancon, who farms sustainably under Terra Vitis certification. He is unusually open to innovation for so old an estate, and has recently begun working with tulip-shaped concrete vats originally designed for Cheval Blanc.
The range runs from a straightforward Cotes du Rhône through the Vallons de la Solitude to the Cuvee Barberini, named for the papal family and made only in the better years.
