The wine
A rich and spicy blend full of personality, this is brimming with dark berried fruit and herbal notes of the garrigue and black tapenade. Truly evocative of the stunning terroir from which it hails. Tradition is the estate bottling, built on old Carignan with Grenache and Mourvedre. Fitou is the Languedoc's oldest appellation, granted in 1948.

Domaine de la Rochelierre
View all Domaine de la Rochelierre winesThe Fabre family have grown wine for four generations at Domaine de la Rochelierre, fifteen hectares in the village of Fitou itself. Since 1979 the estate has followed the Methode Cousinie, an organic approach built on farming without chemicals and on treating the land as something to be handed on rather than used up. Jean-Marie Fabre was joined in 2008 by Emilie, who comes from a winegrowing family in the Rhône, and the domaine gained HVE certification in 2017. A new cellar followed in 2015, built around energy-saving processes. Fitou is the oldest appellation in the Languedoc, granted in 1948, and sits in two separate pockets between Narbonne and Perpignan. Old Carignan is its backbone.
