The wine

Perfumed aromas of citrus and tree fruit. Elegant and satisfying on the palate, with a slight minerality to the finish.

Les Meix is a single vineyard sitting just below the better-known premier cru Les Pucelles, at 230 to 250 metres on silty ground with gravel and calcareous clay, planted to vines of at least fifty years. Laurent and Pascal Borgeot work lutte raisonnée, avoiding treatments wherever they can, and pick and sort by hand. The fruit is cooled before fermentation, and the wine is raised in 25% new oak with the balance in barrels of one to five years.

The producer

Domaine Borgeot is a family estate based at Remigny, on the border of Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet in the southern Côte de Beaune. Run by brothers who farm and buy from prime parcels, it has built a name for polished, keenly priced white Burgundy. Both grower and négociant, it draws on some fine addresses.

The domaine works Chardonnay across the great white villages of Puligny, Chassagne and Santenay, with Pinot Noir for its reds. The limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune give the whites their minerality and cut. Careful farming and sourcing keep quality high across the range.

In the cellar, classical winemaking and measured oak ageing produce wines of freshness and finesse. The whites are taut and mineral, the reds fragrant and supple, all true to their appellations. Balance guides every cuvée.

From an everyday Bourgogne Blanc to premier cru Puligny and Chassagne, Borgeot offers the Côte de Beaune across the board. Precise, elegant and fairly priced, these are wines for lovers of white Burgundy.
