The wine

A premier cru Puligny-Montrachet from Les Champs Gains, pure Chardonnay of real depth and precision. Barrel-aged by a leading Puligny grower.

Aromas of white peach, citrus, almond and white flowers. The palate is elegant and taut, with mineral drive, layered stone fruit and a long, saline finish. Puligny at a higher level.

Superb with lobster, poultry in cream or richer fish. Serve lightly chilled, and worth decanting.

The producer

Domaine Alain Chavy is a fine grower based in the great white-wine village of Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Run by Alain Chavy and his sons, it farms prized parcels at the heart of one of the world's benchmark Chardonnay appellations. Quality and consistency are its hallmarks.

The domaine's holdings lie across village and premier cru sites in Puligny, on the limestone soils that give the wines their famed minerality. Meticulous, sustainable farming keeps yields low and fruit pure. Each parcel is vinified separately to capture its character.

In the cellar, the approach is classical and precise, with barrel ageing that adds subtle richness without masking the terroir. The wines are taut, mineral and beautifully balanced, from village bottlings to premier cru. Freshness is always the guide.

From a village Les Charmes to the premier crus Les Champs Gains and Les Folatières, Alain Chavy offers Puligny at its purest. Precise, ageworthy and true to place, these are wines for lovers of fine white Burgundy.
