The wine
Brimming with juicy raspberry, blackcurrant and redcurrant with a fine line behind.
Saumur-Champigny is Cabernet Franc on tuffeau, the soft white limestone the châteaux of the Loire are built from and which the growers hollowed out for cellars. The grape gives a lighter, leafier red than in Bordeaux, with a graphite edge from the stone. Domaine des Sables Verts work 30 hectares across Varrains, Chacé, Saumur, Souzay-Champigny and Parnay in the Loire.
