Domaine des Brosses Menetou-Salon 2025
£18.45
The wine
Bright straw yellow. Intense lemon peel, white blossom and real definition on the palate.
Menetou-Salon lies immediately west of Sancerre on the same Kimmeridgian marl, and makes the same wine from the same grape at a considerably lower price, being far less known. It is one of the more reliable bargains in the Loire for exactly that reason. Domaine des Brosses has been in the Girard family since 1973, with Nicolas Girard now running it.

Domaine des Brosses
View all Domaine des Brosses winesIn the Loire Valley, spanning Sancerre and neighbouring Menetou-Salon, Domaine des Brosses crafts crisp, mineral Sauvignon Blanc. A family estate, it farms the flint and limestone soils that give these appellations their zesty character. The focus is firmly on purity and freshness.
Careful farming and clean, precise winemaking keep the fruit vivid and the minerality bright. Des Brosses captures Sauvignon at its most transparent, letting the terroir shine. The style is fresh and food-friendly.
The range spans classic Sancerre and the excellent-value Menetou-Salon, each offering the flinty, citrussy purity the Loire is loved for. These are wines built for the table.
To pour a des Brosses wine is to taste the Loire at its most refreshing. Zesty, mineral, and versatile, they are a fine partner for the sea.
