De Loach California Collection Pinot Noir 2024
£17.45
The wine
Expressive ripe cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry with delicate spice.
Pinot Noir across California depends entirely on cool sites, and the state now grows a great deal of it well, largely in the coastal fog belts where the Pacific keeps the afternoons short. The California Collection blends across appellations rather than bottling one. De Loach was founded in the Russian River Valley by Cecil and Christine De Loach and bought by the Boisset family in 2003, since when the estate vineyards have been farmed biodynamically.
The producer
De Loach
View all De Loach winesDe Loach Vineyards is a well-known Californian producer based in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, one of the state's foremost cool-climate regions. Founded in the 1970s, it helped put Russian River Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the map. Today it blends tradition with a commitment to organic and biodynamic farming.
The estate works across California, from broad-appellation everyday wines to single-region bottlings from the fog-cooled Russian River Valley. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel lead the range, grown on a mix of sandy and gravelly soils. Cooling Pacific fog is key to their freshness.
In the cellar, the wines are made to express ripe Californian fruit with balance and drinkability. The Russian River bottlings show real finesse, the California Collection wines everyday charm. Sustainability guides the whole operation.
From an easy California Chardonnay to a serious Russian River Pinot Noir, De Loach offers Sonoma at every level. Ripe, sunny and food-friendly, these are wines that capture the generosity of California.
