The wine

All about the fruit and purity of expression. Attractive purple with a bright magenta rim.

Red Moon is named for the total lunar eclipse, and the wines are picked and made to the biodynamic calendar, which Cullen follow more rigorously than almost anyone. Margaret River is a narrow strip of Western Australia between two capes, surrounded on three sides by ocean, and Wilyabrup is generally reckoned its heartland. The region produces a fraction of Australia wine and a disproportionate share of its best. Cullen have farmed at Wilyabrup in Margaret River since 1971, certified biodynamic since 2004 and carbon neutral since 2006, run by Vanya Cullen.

The producer

Cullen is a legendary family estate in Margaret River, Western Australia, founded by Kevin and Diana Cullen in 1971 and now led by their daughter Vanya. A pioneer of the region, it is celebrated for some of Australia's finest Cabernet and Chardonnay. Few names carry such prestige.

The estate is farmed biodynamically and is certified carbon-neutral, a leader in sustainable viticulture. Its Wilyabrup vineyards, on gravelly loam near the Indian Ocean, enjoy a maritime climate ideal for Bordeaux varieties. Meticulous, holistic farming shapes every wine.

In the cellar, precision and restraint bring out purity and finesse. The whites are taut and complex, the reds structured yet elegant, and even an amber wine shows the estate's adventurous spirit. Terroir and balance guide every decision.

From the flagship Diana Madeline Cabernet to characterful blends and an amber Semillon, Cullen offers Margaret River at its very best. Refined, ageworthy and profoundly expressive, these are among the greatest wines Australia produces.
