The wine
A smooth, fresh and fragrant wine with aromas of cherry, blueberry and wild berries. Velvety on the palate, with an attractive spicy note on the finish.
Dolcetto is the everyday red of the Langhe and the name means little sweet one, referring to the grape rather than the wine, which is dry. It ripens weeks before Nebbiolo, giving soft tannin, low acidity and generous dark fruit, and it is what the locals drink while the Barolo waits in cask.

Costa di Bussia
View all Costa di Bussia winesCosta di Bussia sits at Monforte d'Alba on the Bussia hill, one of the most celebrated crus in Barolo. The estate occupies a nineteenth-century farmhouse and its vineyards fall away on the slope below.
Bussia is among the largest and most historically important vineyards in the appellation, and it was one of the first to be bottled as a single cru, by Aldo Conterno in the 1960s. Monforte sits on Helvetian soils, older and more compacted than the marls of La Morra to the west, and its wines are correspondingly the most structured and long-lived in Barolo.
The estate also houses a museum of rural life in the old farm buildings. Production is small, and the Riserva is held back considerably longer than the appellation's already demanding minimum.
