Contero Moscato d’Asti di Strevi 2025
£16.45
The wine
Moscato d Asti is lightly sparkling, sweet and around five per cent alcohol, made by arresting the fermentation early rather than by adding anything.
Strevi is one of the most highly regarded corners of the Moscato zone. Muscat is one of very few grapes whose wine actually tastes of the grape itself, which is what gives Moscato its unmistakable character. Contero work at Strevi in the hills of southern Piemonte, farming organically.
The producer
Contero
View all Contero winesContero is a small family estate in the hills of southern Piedmont, around Strevi and Acqui, dedicated to the region's sweet, aromatic sparkling wines. This is the home of Moscato d'Asti and Brachetto d'Acqui, gentle, low-alcohol wines of great charm. Tradition runs deep here.
The estate works with the aromatic Moscato and Brachetto grapes, grown on the calcareous hills that suit them so well. Fermentation is stopped early to keep the wines lightly sparkling, sweet and low in alcohol. Freshness and fragrance are everything.
In the cellar the wines are made with care to preserve their delicate perfume and gentle fizz. The Moscato is all peach and orange blossom, the Brachetto a fragrant, strawberry-scented red. Both are irresistibly easy to enjoy.
Contero offers Piedmont's sweet sparklers at their most charming. Light, aromatic and joyful, these are wines for dessert, for celebration, or simply for a moment of pleasure.
