The wine
A characterful and beautifully textured Southern French Marselan, rich in brambly fruit, cassis and heady with the scent of garrigue. Marselan is a 1961 crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, named after Marseillan on the coast, and increasingly planted across the south.

View all Chevanceau winesChevanceau is a pair of southern French varietal wines, a Vermentino and a Marselan, chosen to show two grapes that suit the Languedoc particularly well without being widely planted there.
Vermentino is better known from Sardinia and Corsica, where it makes saline, herb-scented whites. Marselan is a modern crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, made in 1961 and named after Marseillan on the coast, which combines the structure of one parent with the warmth of the other.
