£101.25
The wine
The grand vin of Château Petit-Village, a Merlot-led Pomerol from the estate's iron-rich clay plateau. Aged in fine French oak for depth and polish.
Deep aromas of black cherry, plum, truffle and cedar. The palate is opulent yet refined, with silky tannins, layered dark fruit and a long, savoury finish. A profound, ageworthy Pomerol.
A wine for special occasions, superb with roast game, beef or lamb. Decant well ahead and serve at cool room temperature.

Château Petit-Village
View all Château Petit-Village winesChâteau Petit-Village is one of the great names of Pomerol, its vineyards set on the appellation's celebrated gravel-and-clay plateau beside neighbours of the highest rank. Pomerol has no official classification, yet Petit-Village has long stood among its elite. This is Right Bank aristocracy.
Merlot rules here, as across Pomerol, joined by Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon. The famous iron-rich clay, the crasse de fer, lends the wines their depth and silky power. Low yields and meticulous farming concentrate the fruit.
In the cellar, precision and patience shape wines of remarkable purity. Ageing in fine oak builds structure while preserving Pomerol's plush, velvety fruit. The style marries opulence with elegance, the hallmark of the plateau.
From the approachable second wine to the profound grand vin, Petit-Village offers Pomerol at its most seductive. Rich, silky and ageworthy, these are wines for special occasions and long cellaring alike.
