Château Mouras Graves 2022
£19.25
The wine
Deep ruby with violet hues. A complex, aromatic nose of red berry and blackberry fruit.
Graves takes its name from the gravel that covers it, and it is the oldest vineyard land in Bordeaux: its wines were being shipped to England four centuries before the Médoc was drained and planted. Jean-Christophe works just six hectares of red varieties in the small communes of Portets and its neighbours, Merlot-led as the right bank is.

Château Mouras
View all Château Mouras winesChâteau Mouras is a family estate in the Graves, the historic gravel country stretching south from Bordeaux city. Here, on the free-draining soils that gave the region its name, it makes classic red Bordeaux. The estate is a dependable source of authentic Graves claret.
The red is a traditional Bordeaux blend built around Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The warm, quick-draining gravel helps the fruit ripen fully, while the maritime climate keeps it fresh. Careful farming underpins the wine's balance.
In the cellar, the wine is aged to round its tannins while preserving its ripe, savoury fruit. The style has the earthy, gravelly character that marks fine Graves. It is claret with a real sense of place.
Mouras offers genuine Graves character at an everyday price. Ripe, savoury and food-friendly, it is a claret that speaks clearly of its storied corner of Bordeaux.
