Château de Pinet Notes Salines Picpoul de Pinet 2025

The wine
A refreshing and dry Picpoul de Pinet, with tangy citrus, grapefruit and saline notes through to a lip-smacking finish. Château de Pinet is the only chateau attached to the village itself, run today by Simonne Gaujal and her daughter Anne-Virginie after two and a half centuries of father-to-son inheritance. Picpoul de Pinet is grown on the shore of the Etang de Thau, and the lagoon keeps the wine taut where the Mediterranean heat would otherwise flatten it. The traditional match is a plate of oysters farmed in that same water.

After two hundred and fifty years of passing from father to son, the estate is in the hands of women again. Simonne took over from her father Jacques Gaujal and has since been joined by her daughter Anne-Virginie, a pharmacist and oenologist. Between them they make classic Picpoul de Pinet: vibrant, fresh, and carrying the saline minerality that the Etang de Thau lends to the appellation.
