Champagne Gosset
View all Champagne Gosset winesMaison Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne, dating to 1584. The family's involvement in viticulture began earlier still, in the fifteenth century, when Jean Gosset cultivated vineyards at Ay. When Pierre Gosset established his still wine trading house in 1584, sparkling Champagne had not yet been invented.
The house style is unmistakable and deliberately contrary: Gosset blocks malolactic fermentation entirely, preserving a piercing freshness and vivid fruit that most of Champagne softens away. The wines are bottled in the distinctive antique flask shape, and they age magnificently. The range runs from the Grande Réserve through the Grand Rosé to the Célébris cuvees and the extraordinary 21 Ans de Cave, aged for over two decades in the cellar.
