Domaine de Castelnau Garenne Syrah Pays d’Oc 2025
£10.95
The wine
Deep red with violet hues. Ripe strawberry fruit, opening further with swirling.
Syrah in the Languedoc gives a softer, riper wine than in its northern Rhône home, where it is peppery and firm. Harvest began early with selective picking to catch optimal ripeness. The Languedoc is the largest wine region in France by area, and for most of the twentieth century it produced bulk wine. The transformation since the 1990s has been the most dramatic anywhere in the country, and Pays d Oc is the regional IGP that gives growers freedom the appellations do not.
