Capezzana Villa di Capezzana Carmignano 2021
£27.95
The wine
Villa di Capezzana is the estate's flagship Carmignano, a Sangiovese-based red with a proportion of Cabernet, a marriage this corner of Tuscany has practised for centuries.
Deep and elegant, it offers ripe black cherry, plum and dried herb over firm, fine tannins and a long, savoury finish. A serious, age-worthy Tuscan red of real class.
Decant and serve at cool room temperature, with roast meats, game and hard cheese.

Capezzana
View all Capezzana winesOn the hills of Carmignano, west of Florence, Capezzana is one of Italy's oldest and most storied wine estates, with a documented winemaking history stretching back over a thousand years. For generations it has been the home of the Contini Bonacossi family, custodians of one of Tuscany's most distinctive traditions. Few estates carry their history so lightly, or so well.
Here, uniquely, Sangiovese has long been partnered with Cabernet, a marriage the Medici first encouraged centuries ago. The result is Carmignano, a red of elegance and structure all its own, alongside a Bordeaux-inspired super-Tuscan and a characterful, textural Trebbiano.
Historic, graceful and beautifully made, these are wines of real depth and pedigree. They reward patience in the cellar and generosity at the table in equal measure.
Decant the reds and serve at cool room temperature, and taste a thousand years of Tuscan history in every glass.
