Ca’ di Alte Pinot Nero 2024

The wine
Pinot Nero, the Italian name for Pinot Noir, grown in the cooler Veneto hills and made in a light, fresh style that shows the grape's gentler, more perfumed side.
Bright ruby in the glass, it offers red cherry, wild strawberry and a whisper of rose and spice, carried on silky tannins to a fresh, gently savoury finish. Charming, food-friendly and quietly elegant.
Serve lightly chilled as a summer red, or bring it to the table with roast poultry, charcuterie and lighter meat dishes.
The producer
Ca' di Alte
View all Ca' di Alte winesIn the gentle hills around Vicenza, where the Veneto rises towards the mountains and the countryside still bears the mark of the architect Palladio, Ca' di Alte makes its home. This is classic northern Italian wine country, and the range takes its cue from the place: bright, precise and made for the pleasures of the table.
The wines are overseen by Alberto Marchisio, who brings a Piedmontese eye for detail to the Veneto's native grapes. The sparkling wines are made by the Charmat method, a gentle tank fermentation that captures Glera at its freshest, all orchard fruit and fine, lively bubbles. The still wines follow the same clear, modern hand.
It is a range with something for every occasion. Prosecco Spumante and the softer Frizzante lead the way, joined by a delicate Prosecco Rosé and a pale Rosato. Alongside them sit crisp Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc, and a light, silky Pinot Nero, each a faithful expression of its grape.
Unshowy but beautifully made, these are wines that wear their quality lightly. Pour them as an aperitif, bring them to the table, or open a bottle simply because the evening calls for it. Everyday Italian elegance, and remarkable value for the pleasure they give.
