Jean-Claude Boisset Mâcon-Igé Sous La Roche 2024
£21.25
The wine
Pale gold, with concentrated yellow stone fruit, peach and apricot. The palate is generous and full-bodied, leading into a fresh, saline finish.
Sous la Roche is a lieu-dit sitting below a rock face near Igé, in the Mâconnais. The vines are thirty-six years old on chalky soil with some limestone, and the Mâconnais is where Burgundy Chardonnay is still affordable enough to drink rather than save. Hand picked, sorted on arrival and whole-bunch pressed.
