The wine

Intense black fruit married with peonies and subtle hints of black pepper. The palate reveals real power, with fine but firm tannins and a bright acidity.

A sixteen-hectare grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis on rocky brown marl and limestone, sitting between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny and borrowing something from each. Hand harvested and sorted, then gravity fed into tank for a cool pre-fermentation maceration rather than pumped, which keeps the tannins fine.
