The wine
A crisp, light and enjoyable Cava with refreshing citrus and green apple notes leading to a delightfully elegant and lively finish. The three classic Cava varieties, made by the traditional method.
Cava is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in the bottle exactly as in Champagne. It began in 1872 when Josep Raventos of Codorniu returned from Champagne and applied the method to the local trio of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada. Most Cava still comes from the Penedès.

Bodegas Pinord
View all Bodegas Pinord winesBodegas Pinord was founded in 1942 by the Tetas family at Vilafranca del Penedes, the capital of Catalan wine, and remains in family hands across four generations.
The Penedes is where Cava began. In 1872 Josep Raventos of Codorniu made the first Spanish sparkling wine by the traditional method after visiting Champagne, using the local trio of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada, and the region has been defined by it since. Cava is now made across several Spanish regions but the overwhelming majority still comes from here.
The family also work Priorat, an entirely different proposition: a small, mountainous appellation of slate soils called llicorella, where old Garnacha and Carinena vines cling to terraces so steep that everything is done by hand. Priorat and Rioja are Spain's only two DOCa regions, the highest classification the country awards.
