The wine
The Viña Lanciano Reserva is drawn from the estate's celebrated single vineyard, encircled by a bend in the River Ebro. Blending Tempranillo with Graciano and Mazuelo and aged in French and Hungarian oak, it is an elegant portrait of this remarkable site.
Refined and harmonious, it layers red and dark berries with sweet spice, cedar and a fine mineral thread. The tannins are polished and the finish gently persistent. Lovely with roast lamb, beef and mature cheese.

Bodegas Lan
View all Bodegas Lan winesFounded in 1972, Bodegas Lan takes its name from the three historic provinces of Rioja, Logroño, Álava and Navarra, and has become a benchmark of the region. Its heart is Viña Lanciano, one of Rioja Alta's largest and most beautiful single vineyards, cradled within a sweeping bend of the River Ebro.
The vineyard's poor, stony canto rodado soils and old vines, some up to sixty years of age, yield small quantities of deeply concentrated fruit. Farmed sustainably and divided into twenty-four plots by soil and aspect, each parcel is matched to the grape that suits it best: Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha or Mazuelo. Its jewel is Pago el Rincón, the highest and oldest plot, source of the celebrated A Mano and Culmen.
Since 2002, winemaker María Barúa has guided the estate with a master's feel for oak, drawing on French, American, Pyrenean and Hungarian barrels and the hybrid barrel Lan pioneered in Rioja. The result is a complete range, from bright, welcoming Crianza to the profound Gran Reserva, alongside a vibrant Verdejo made with Olga Tormo in nearby Rueda.
