The wine
Picpoul de Pinet is the speciality of the Cave de Pomérols, and this is a textbook example: grown on clay and limestone beside the Étang de Thau, where sea breezes keep it crisp and lively.
Pale and zesty, it brims with lemon, green apple and a saline, mineral tang, finishing dry, fresh and clean. The classic partner for oysters, mussels and all things from the sea. An effortless aperitif too. Serve well chilled.

Baron de Badassière
View all Baron de Badassière winesBaron de Badassière comes from the sun-drenched Languedoc coast, where the vineyards look out over the Étang de Thau, the great lagoon that lends these wines their freshness. The name belongs to an old vineyard once owned by a flamboyant eighteenth-century baron, rumoured to be the illegitimate son of Louis XV.
Made at the respected Cave de Pomérols, in the heart of Picpoul de Pinet country, the wines are crafted with a deliberately light hand: little or no skin contact, no malolactic, no oak. The aim is purity, letting each grape variety speak clearly.
From the crisp, saline Picpoul that is the cellar’s speciality to a fragrant Viognier and a bright, peppery Carignan, these are fresh, modern, food-friendly wines. Mediterranean sunshine and sea breezes, beautifully caught.
