Antoine Olivier Santenay Le Bievaux l Air de Rien 2017
£33.75
The wine
A vibrant, terroir-expressive white Santenay showing balanced oak and mineral purity, finishing on a peppery note. The name translates roughly as though it were nothing, which rather undersells it. Eight years on and singing.
The producer
Antoine Olivier
View all Antoine Olivier winesAntoine Olivier was founded at the end of the 1960s from a few vineyards left by Antoine Chevalier Moreau to his grandson, Herve Olivier. Herve set about extending the estate by buying historic old vineyards across Santenay, some of which had lain unused for a century, paying particular attention to the parcels known for white wine.
The quality of those soils now shows in a series of brilliant wines, above all the exceptional white Santenay, a genuine rarity in what is overwhelmingly red wine country. The range reaches up through Santenay Premier Cru Beaurepaire to Pommard.
