The wine

Beaurepaire is the finest of Santenay Premiers Crus, a steep limestone slope above the village. Darker and more structured than the village wines: black cherry, forest floor and fine tannin, with the depth to reward five years in the cellar.

Antoine Olivier was founded at the end of the 1960s from a few vineyards left by Antoine Chevalier Moreau to his grandson, Herve Olivier. Herve set about extending the estate by buying historic old vineyards across Santenay, some of which had lain unused for a century, paying particular attention to the parcels known for white wine.

The quality of those soils now shows in a series of brilliant wines, above all the exceptional white Santenay, a genuine rarity in what is overwhelmingly red wine country. The range reaches up through Santenay Premier Cru Beaurepaire to Pommard.
